I just received a invitation to participate in the "art off the wall" exhibition - a chance for emerging artists to show their work. Sounds good - I entered last year and was not accepted, but why not try again? woha - $50 entry fee!! I thought this was for EMERGING artists... how do I find $50 each time I want to enter a competition? Last year I falked out quite a sum trying to get my work into competitions and exhibitions, but I didn’t even get my work hung!! The only time my work was accepted was the FREE "I art Sydney rd," Melbourne fringe festival - and I won 1st prize! WHAT is going on? Are there any other free opportunities, or do you have to come from an upper middle class family to be a successful artist nowadays?
