Hey Guys/Girls,

I am a VFX artist living in Mancheser (UK). I moved here a year ago from Australia.

Back in OZ I had worked for around 6 years in the VFX and Animation industry, always in pretty high-end positions in small companies. I directed a couple jobs, won some awards, things where pretty sweet.

Then I moved to the UK, thinking with my experience I could get at least a small position at a big VFX company here.

Fail! No luck. Been here 1 year, and managed 2 small contracts with a place in Manchester. I have been out of the job now since October, and nothing really in the pipeline.

So, I am thinking I am doing something wrong. Feel free to look at my reel/cv and tell me what you don’t like, or what you would like to see more of. I am working on some personal projects to pass the time, so I can include more of my own work.

Anyone got some tips for getting into Framestore/MPC/The Mill/ The Senate/ Machine/ Double Negative/Ect? Or, basically getting a job in the UK would be nice!

Hey! I don't want to sound harsh but to be honest, from what I saw in your demo reel you should lower your expectations, I mean the studios that you mentioned are the best of the best and are looking for the best of the best people.
My advice would be to get a job at a "smaller" studio until you build a better demo reel.

Again, sorry if I sounded to harsh.

Hey Adrian,

No, this a good start.

Just to clarify, what I specialize in is:

- Lighting
- Compositing
- Shading/ Texturing
- Dynamics

So, I didn't animate or design any of the characters here. Keeping this in mind then, what in my reel is total shit/good? What should I work on?

I ideally want to become a Lighting TD, so again tips for this would be sweet too!

Thanks,
